Prada, Chanel, Alexander McQueen, Hermès... Tous s'arrachent cette beauté black. On lui prédit d'ailleurs une carrière à la Naomi Campbell.
Née le 3 aout 1990, la Britannique d'origine jamaïcaine grandit à Londres aux cotés de sa mère. C'est lors d'une virée shopping avec des amies que Jourdan Dunn est repérée par Sarah Doukas de l'agence Storm Management. Elle n'a alors que 16 ans, mais enchaîne déjà les castings.

Mannequin noire, elle estime que les Tops de couleur ne sont pas assez présentes sur les podiums londoniens. Elle déclare: " Je vois quantité de filles dans les castings mais, sur les podiums, elles ont disparu. Londres n'est pourtant pas une ville blanche..."
En effet, la plupart des mannequins défilant sur les catwalks britanniques sont originaires de l'Europe de l'Est. Heureusement pour Jourdan, elle tape dans l'oeil des plus grandes marques du luxe des son arrivée chez Storm. Elle fait ses premiers pas sur les podiums dans les défilés de Marc Jacobs, Ralph Lauren et Salvatore Ferragamo.

Born on August the 3rd, 1990, the Briton of Jamaican descent grew up in London alongside her mother. It was during a shopping trip with friends that Jourdan Dunn was spotted by Sarah Doukas from Storm Management Agency. She was just 16 but already connects the castings.
Black is beautiful
As a black model, she considers that the tops of color are not quite present on the catwalk in London. She said: "I see many girls in the auditions but, on the catwalk, they were gone. London, however, is not a white city ...".
Indeed, most of the models parading on the UK catwalks are from Eastern Europe. Fortunately for Jourdan, she caught the eye of the biggest brands in the luxury since joining Storm. She made her first steps on the catwalk in fashion shows of Marc Jacobs, Ralph Lauren and Salvatore Ferragamo.

Elle a également fait les couvertures de célèbres magazines, parmi lesquels Vogue, I-D, Style ou Pop, et a posé pour ELLE et Dazed&Confused.
En novembre 2008, le top est élu mannequin de l'année par le British Fashion Council. Le mois suivant, elle est photographiée par Terry Richardson et apparaît dans le calendrier francais de Vogue.

Du haut de ses 19 ans, Jourdan Dunn a un caractère bien trempé. Si elle se rend compte de la chance qu'elle a, elle éprouve un pincement au coeur pour les autres mannequins de couleur n'ayant pas une carrière aussi prometteuse qu'elle.
"Quand j'ai défilé pour Prada, j'étais partagée entre la joie d'avoir été choisie et la tristesse de me dire qu'il n'y avait pas eu de filles noires depuis si longtemps..."
Elle pense déjà à "l'après catwalk", et espère ouvrir une agence de mannequins blacks, asiatiques et hispaniques. Mais Jourdan a encore le temps de penser à son futur en dehors des défilés, puisque pour l'instant, on lui promet un avenir radieux sur les catwalks!

From its 19 years, Jourdan Dunn has a strong character. If she realizes how lucky she was, she felt a twinge of regret for the other color models without a career as promising as hers.
"When I walked for Prada, I was torn between joy at having been chosen and sadness to me that there were no black girls for so long ..."
She is already thinking about the "post catwalk, and hopes to open a modeling agency for Black, Asian and Hispanic girls. But Jourdan has still time to think about her future beyond the parades, as for now, she promises a bright future on the catwalks!
